OstrelA diff, drawn as a letter.

AI code review that comments like a senior engineer.

Concept project. Ostrel is a fictional company. This identity is self-initiated work by Ikonra Studio, made to show how we would approach a brief like this. It is not client work, and the brief below is imagined.

(01)

Imagined brief

Ostrel reads every pull request and leaves the kind of comments a senior engineer would. The imagined brief: a rebrand ahead of a Series B, so the company stops looking like a weekend side project and starts looking like infrastructure teams can standardise on.

The mark had to hold up at 16 pixels in an editor sidebar, on a GitHub check, and on a lanyard at a developer conference.

(02)

Approach

Every engineer recognises one moment: a line before a change and the same line after it. We split the O down its axis and moved one half a step, the way a diff moves code. It stays an O, so it works as a letter, a symbol and an app icon.

The wordmark is Red Hat Display, set lowercase and tightened by hand so it sits comfortably next to code. The palette is graphite and paper with one colour, diff green, kept for change and nothing else.

(03)

Construction

Drawn on a 10-unit grid so the symbol stays exact from a 1024 px app icon down to a 16 px favicon.

Colour and type

Four colours, each with one job. Two free typefaces, so the team can use them anywhere without a licence conversation.

Applications

The brand where a funded company actually lives: inside the product, on the website, in the deck and on the launch post. Names and figures in the interface are illustrative.
